Digital self-management program
Untire’s targeted approach helps cancer patients and survivors suffering from fatigue to regain their energy and improve their quality of life. The app does this in different ways:
- Provides information on reasons why you may be constantly tired
- Teaches how to relax more and worry less
- Helps you deal with stress and anxiety
- Provides tips on improving sleep
- Provides tips on distributing and managing your energy throughout the day
- Offers physical activity exercises
- Monitors your energy each week
You will receive daily tips, exercises to help combat stress, exercises to improve your fitness and information on key fatigue components. These will gradually help you build up your energy level. You can keep track of your fatigue and energy level over time. The program uses videos and has a read-aloud function that you can use if you prefer to listen rather than read.
Untire is for everyone
The Untire program is suitable for all cancer patients, regardless of their gender, age, type of cancer, treatment phase and prognosis. Doctors, nurses and cancer patient associations all over the world recommend Untire. Untire is currently available in Dutch, English and German.
How was Untire developed?
The Untire app is the result of many years of treatment experience with hundreds of cancer patients and survivors who suffer from fatigue. A team of IT developers, researchers, cancer patients, survivors and specialists in the field of psycho-oncology spent countless hours developing the Untire app. We use theories and techniques that have been proven effective, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, positive psychology and movement interventions.
The Untire app is a proven effective digital treatment for cancer related fatigue (Digital Medicine). This was the result of an extensive RCT study carried out by the University of Groningen with 800 cancer patients and survivors in the UK, the USA, Australia and Canada, all of whom suffered from severe cancer related fatigue. Dr Bram Kuiper, co-inventor of Untire says ‘Independent research has shown that the Untire app actually reduces the fatigue of cancer patients and survivors and improves their quality of life, which is fantastic. We now have a resource that we can use to help lots of people in an accessible way.’
